Luke
Annesley
Alto and soprano saxophone
Luke studied music at Cambridge
University before joining the London Jazz scene, initially as
a player and composer for the six-piece band Ahead Only, which
played at most of London's Jazz clubs and toured the UK with
funding from Jazz Services.
He now has his own quartet with
Dave Cliff, one of Britain’s foremost
bop guitarists, and has recently released an album, “Beginning”, on FMR Records.
Luke is one of the featured musicians
in the John Wilson Orchestra who have been a regular attraction
at Pizza-on-the-Park,
playing to sell-out audiences, and whose albums, including
Orchestral Jazz with Richard Rodney-Bennett, have been played
extensively
on national radio.
He was a member of the house band on the BBC1 show Johnny
Vaughan Tonight and has also performed or recorded with the Hallé Orchestra,
the Pasadena Roof Orchestra, the BBC Concert Orchestra,
Salena Jones, John Pizzarelli, Sheena Easton, Maria Ewing, Tony
Remy,
The Christian Vaughan Quartet and recently with the
legendary Jazz Crusaders.
